Anesthesia: Russell-Silver Syndrome

The article link below, although published in 1994 – is one of the few documented publications acknowledging the difficulties anesthesia faces during surgery for Russell-Silver Syndrome children.  Years ago, when Ian was plagued with surgery after surgery, our Anesthesiologist at St. Mary’s Hospital (a Bon Secours Richmond Health System affiliate) was extremely interested in the obvious physical disparities in my son and the effects of his physical characteristics making the performance of anesthesia techniques during his surgeries quite difficult.   Once the Anesthesiologist read this article, he even contemplated researching this very topic.  Maybe it should still be a consideration?  I think so.

The article is an interesting read and worth printing when you bring your Russell-Silver Syndrome child in for surgery.
